For the first Carpe Diem Special of September there is the following haiku by O. Mabson Southard to inspire us:
* * *
Chanting, the pond’s frogs …
among the lilies’ dark pads –
the twinkle of stars
* * *
And here’ s my humble attempt to write a haiku in the similar spirit and mood:
* * *
golden leaves in pond
weeping willow’ s nakedness
silence of the frogs
* * *
ooh
this is really good
Cheers!

Do the naked trees silence the frogs, I wonder? This is a lovely poem that evokes feelings of sadness for the end of summer.

This is a great attempt and I think you caught the tone and sense of the haiku by Southard.
