Carpe Diem Haiku *Shiki ”smoke whirls”*

Our source of inspiration on Carpe Diem today is a haiku, written by Masaoka Shiki – a poet who gave haiku it’s name and brought this poetry-art into the 20th century:

* * *
smoke whirls
after the passage of a train –
young foliage

* * *

And now – my attempt to stay close to the same mood and spirit:

* * *
wearily chugging
steep climb up the hill
steam locomotive

* * *
