Carpe Diem Special *Sogi’s “this autumn sky“*

This week’ s inspiration on Carpe Diem Special is a haiku, written by Iio Sogi (1421-1502) – a pre-Basho haiku poet:

* * *
ah, for coolness,
it rivals the water’s depth –
this autumn sky

* * *

Here’ s my attempt not to wander too far away from the same mood and spirit:

* * *
the endless night
unable to count the stars
in the frozen pond

* * *

  1. Awesome … a very biblical approach of Sogi’s haiku … countless are the stars in the sky, but to count them in the frozen pond will not be a success. Love to use this haiku for one of our upcoming Tan Renga Challlenges Ese
