Carpe Diem Special *Sogi’s “With Cherry Blossoms“*

This week our inspiration on Carpe Diem Special is a haiku, written by a pre-Basho haiku poet Iio Sogi (1421-1502):

* * *
Now that they end
There is no flower that can compare
With cherry blossoms

* * *

Here’ s my attempt to stay close to the same mood and spirit:

* * *
first cherry blossoms
despite the bites of morning frost
still beautiful

* * *
left behind
in the frozen pond
white feather

* * *

Carpe Diem Tan Renga Challenge *Sho-u “spring in our country”*

This week Carpe Diem Tan Renga inspiration is a beautiful haiku by a poet Sho-u. Our goal is to add a second stanza to it.

in the centre,
mount Fuji towers up:
                                    spring in our country                     (Sho-u)

on geisha’ s ivory cheeks
                    glimpse of first cherry blossoms         (Ese)

Carpe Diem Haiku Special *Alexey Andreyev’s “Morning Awakening”*

This week our inspiration on Carpe Diem Special is another haiku, written by Alexey Andreyev (Алексей Андреев):

* * *
morning awakening:
among window curtains’ flowers
a blade of gray sky

* * *

The following one is mine, where I tried to stay close to the same mood and spirit:

* * *
tea ceremony
among cherry blossom kimonos
glimpse of pale wrist

Carpe Diem Haiku Special *Alexey Andreyev’s “Evening Sky”*

Today on Carpe Diem Special our inspiration is a haiku by Alexey Andreyev (Алексей Андреев):

* * *

evening sky –
over the city lights
stars hardly seen

* * *

I am following with my own, keeping them of the same mood and spirit (hopefully!) and also refreshing my Russian:

* * *

     cherry blossoms                                                                  вишни в цвету
 during the daily rush                                                 в повседневной суете
          unnoticed                                                                              не замечены

                                                                           * * *
     your silhouette                                                                       твой силуэт
 in the crowded city                                                           в толкотне города
appears, disappears                                                      появляется, исчезает
