The Līgo Haibun Challenge – Swinging Memories

It is a choice between 2 photos on the Līgo Haibun Challenge this week. The one above made me walk down the memory lane. With a smile and a couple of snowflakes on the tip of my nose.

I hadn’t been back home for a long time, in fact – too long, and entering the yard there was a picture perfect in front of my eyes. The swings – so peaceful, without a single sound of the wind slipping through the chains. Only snow softly covering every footprint still visible. A couple of minutes and it all will be well hidden under a white blanket and embraced by night.

It was like years ago in that late October evening when I was supposed to be upstairs studying and he was supposed to be long gone. But we hardly did what we were supposed to do during the school years and this time was not an exception. We were going up and down, in the rhythm of a falling asleep metronome. My hand in his, sharing the moment and the warmth, turning snowflakes into tiny droplets as soon as they had touched the skin.

The slower the swinging became, the faster got the speed of my heart, almost trying to race itself. The very second a loud squeak of hinges announced we had stopped completely, I felt electrifying heat bursting like a torrent from my lips all the way through my body. For the first time I had melted from a kiss.
