Carpe Diem Special *Adjei Agyei Baah, our featured haiku poet, on Afriku*

Our inspiration on Carpe Diem Special this week were several haiku, written by Adjei Agyei Baah – a well-known poet from Ghana but I was the most drawn to the following one:

Here’ s my attempt to stay close to the same mood and spirit:

* * *
ancient patterns
painted on his bare skin
by desert shadows

* * *
bright orange
between parched grass blades
her delicate feet

Carpe Diem Haiku *Use That Quote ‘Buddha’*

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared” – this it the quote by Buddha our Carpe Diem host Chèvrefeuille has chosen to inspire us to write haiku of our own. Here’ re mine:

* * *
slow dance
between light and shadows
flickering flame

* * *
burning
with each melting droplet
a little brighter
