Carpe Diem Special *Fuyuko Tomita’s “actors we all are, she said”*

Our inspiration on Carpe Diem Special this week is a tanka, written by a well-known haiku poetess Fuyuko Tomita:

* * *
Actors we all are, she said
mirrors to reflect
each other
We all leave the stage, she said
and left a smile in mine

* * *

Here’ s my attempt to stay close to the same mood and spirit:

* * *
piercing silence
among shards of broken plates
the same drama
played all over again
for the last time

Carpe Diem Time Glass *A Frog Jumps In*

moon_5

I still remember the strong scent of lilacs, almost trapped in the sultry summer air that night. The pitch black sand still radiated afternoon heat in waves around my feet. I had walked for hours but maybe it was much less – any sense of time had disappeared. I didn’ t want to see or hear, I didn’ t need to think and I tried not to feel. Squatting on the ground at the pond, I wrapped arms around knees, tightly, trying to protect myself…from what? The world seemed so usual but empty and big. Too big.

I nursed my grief as the night embraced everything in the dark veil. Lights went out one after another, and the town had gained its peace. The moonlight was all there was left – like the last breath, still reaching out for life.

Carpe Diem Haiku *Silence*

haibun_silence

Silence. Between sentences. When breath can be heard and the last letters of the word are still lingering in the air. With the tones of what has been said, mixed with the ones yet to come. Like the grass among the flowers in a meadow, “connecting” them in more than just one way. Making them a part of one whole small complete universe that bursts in more colours than a rainbow. A combination of strong feelings and all the rolling thoughts that have gathered together. Because of what you have told. Or the way you have said it. How you have found exactly the right letters for the words to become alive.

I read and…there comes that moment. Of silence. While storming emotions are just about to whirl down gently, still vibrating like a string of a violin after the last chord. Right before the powerful wave of applauses. Trying to find the right place back where my heart feels so right. Because of what you have just given. It’s a sign of being touched. Deeply. By your thoughts. An idea. Even if just a word. Touched by your laugh. Or sigh. A silent one.

your last sentence
still echoes in silence of
my empty room

Prompt 16 – SILENCE

The pause – that impressive silence, that eloquent silence, that geometrically progressive silence which often achieves a desired effect where no combination of words, howsoever felicitous, could accomplish it. /M.Twain/

The moment before, during or after…expected or not…
