Our source of inspiration on Carpe Diem Special this week is another haiku, written by Jim Kacian:
* * *
harvest dusk–
sitting in the wheelbarrow
with the potatoes
* * *
Writing my haiku, I tried to stay close to the same mood and spirit:
* * *
potato field-
shining between muddy rows
red rubber boots
* * *
all shapes and sizes
piled up in autumn sun
-potato harvest
* * *
tractor growls
disappear in early dusk
acres of bare field
* * *
These are lovely, Ese. 🙂

Coming from the East Coast of the USA. I had never seen potatoes being harvested and it was enough to make me stop and watch. And yes, grapes would be even better !

I can imagine it was…my reaction would be rather similar, seeing oranges being harvested, for example. 🙂

That I have seen and done.. Something about the fields being harvested and the warmth of potatoes 🙂

I enjoyed these very much…a long busy harvest.

Certainly captures the potato field very well – that reminds me, I still got 1/3 of my potato patch to harvest. Perhaps at dusk? 🙂

Sounds like a great idea – don’t forget to grab a flashlight or two 😉

A busy and dirty time. Where I live they shake the nut trees creating a dust fog that you cannot see through. Not great for breathing either. I’ve only harvested potatoes in a small garden cant imagine on the large scale. Great description!
