ashes to ashes-
even phoenix needs a rest

This week on the special feature “Encore” of Carpe Diem our inspiration is a haiku, written by the haiku master Matsuo Basho:
* * *
to sweep the garden
before I leave
falling willow leaves
* * *
I tried not to wander too far from the same mood and spirit in mine:
* * *
empty train station-
the chestnut in my pocket
still warm from his palm
* * *
This time on Carpe Diem Modern Times Haiku we are introduced to haiku, written by a haiku poet Richard Wright (1908-1960):
* * *
no birds are flying;
the tree leaves are still as stone, –
an autumn evening
* * *
I tried not to wander too far from the same mood and spirit, writing mine:
* * *
heavy raindrops
running down the dark window pane
a small yellow leaf
* * *
* * *
under the first snow
stillness of fallen leaves
and butterfly’ s wings
* * *
* * *
before the dusk
lingering in the cobweb
the last of the light
* * *
at both ends
of the same cobweb thread
a spider and a fly
* * *
Our inspiration on Carpe Diem Special this week is a haiku, written by Chiyo-Ni – one of the most known female haiku poets:
* * *
this harvest moon –
as I part the snow by stepping on it
the sound of stones
* * *
This is what came to my mind after reading hers:
* * *
parting droplets of sweat
on our entangled bodies
this harvest moon
